Varsity Debaters (i.e., 7th/8th period Debate class)
We will be read an article on critical pedagogies by Henry Giroux entitled "Public Pedagogy and the Politics of Resistance." You will begin keeping a journal in which you relate our readings on critical pedagogies to your experiences of being educated (by teachers, the media, peers, parents, etc.). We will use these entries to jumpstart our conversations in class about the arguments in our reading, your judgements of their veracity, and how these arguments could be used in theory debates.

Due: Journal entry #5, Cut 1 card to explain what a critical pedagogy is, and cut 2 card that justify the importance of a critical pedagogy.
Novice Debaters
We will discuss a parts of John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hitman. Using the reading and our discussion, you will practice cutting cards and writing your own Disadvantage to be used on next year's topic.
